Sacrifice or Qurbani: Philosophy and Rules. Qurbani: Are you ready? With Qurbani 1437 just days away, much excitement has set in. Preparations are underway, knives are being sent for sharpening, butchers are readying themselves for the influx of meat, and families are setting themselves up for a day of sacrificial slaughtering. The blood stained clothes, the stench-filled yard, the sight of children equally terrified and fascinated by having animals in their midst are all part of the Ibadah of Qurbani. But there is more significance to it than it being a day of commemoration: HazratAaisha (RadhiyallahuAnha) reports that Rasulullah (SallallahuAlayhiWasallam) said: “The son of Adam (Alayhis Salaam) does not perform any action on the day of Nahr (EidulAdha) which is more beloved to Allah Ta’ala than causing the blood (of the Qurbani animals) to flow”(MishkaatulMasaabih Vol.1 Pg.128). Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola wants to return to Barcelona before he ends his coaching career to take charge of the B team once more. The 47-year-old took over Barca B in 2007 before becoming coach of the senior side a year later, following the departure of Frank Rijkaard. Guardiola won three LaLiga titles, two Champions Leagues and two Club World Cups in a memorable four years before enjoying similar levels of success with Bayern Munich. Now in his third season with City, he is hoping to defend the Premier League title they won last season with a record-breaking points tally of 100 and has already hinted at staying in England for a decade. QURBANI RULES Below is a brief guide to the rules and recommendations of Qurbani. Qurbani must only be performed on the tenth, eleventh and twelfth days of Dhul-Hijjah. You can order your Qurbani before this time, but the sacrifice must be carried out on the correct day. The first day is always better than the second, whilst the second is better than the last (Muslim Aid ensures sacrifices take place on Eid day). Qurbani is to be offered  by those who can afford it and meet other specific requirements; you must be a Muslim of sound mind, mature (have reached puberty), not aShar'itraveller, and in possession of 52.5 tolas of silver, or the equivalent in wealth. If you are obliged to offer Qurbani but miss the date, you are liable to pay compensation. It is not compulsory for children and the insane to practice Qurbani, nor are their guardians expected to perform Qurbani on their behalf.
